Stage Size/Lights: Since we're at least six pieces (and sometimes more), the Boat Drunks prefer a stage of at least 24 (wide) x 16' (deep).
NO FLATBED TRAILERS, please.
Lights - nothing special, 8 or so par cans with multi-colored gels will do the trick.

Stageplot: Space and stage size determining, this is generally how the band will set up. Click here for a pdf of our stageplot.

Monitors: The Boat Drunks use the Aviom personal in-ear monitor system, which means that stage monitors/monitor techs are generally not needed. This also directly affects how/where stage inputs are set. The configuration is simple, actually; the band will provide the FOH tech with 22 labeled ‘fan-end’ outputs split from our monitor head and are specifically for the FOH mix. These can be landed by FOH in any configuration that you would land your own mic inputs to the FOH board. We do request that the main snake head be located near the drums; we set our Aviom head by the drummer and our subsnakes are only 8 feet long. The band generally brings their own direct boxes, microphones, cables and stands, but we'll occasionally need to borrow cables and such for longer stage runs. FOH: The Boat Drunks do not use live monitors and only typically use 1 small amplifier for harmonica. All guitars, bass, and keyboards are direct digital inputs. While this tends to eliminate many of the feedback/control headaches, it comes with the following: (1) Requirement that the FOH needs to pay ‘closer-than-normal’ attention to the performance to insure all the performers are in the mix. (2) Since the only sound acoustically leaving the stage is drums/percussion, most successful FOH setups use a front-fill concept (these could be placed where the monitors would typically be). (3) Any additional inputs (above those provided by The Boat Drunks) can be run directly to the FOH as usual. See the stage plot pdf for details. These may include drum overhead(s) or additional drum mics as desired by the FOH engineer.
